Run a quiz in your Microsoft Teams meeting

A browser-based trivia game that runs alongside any Microsoft Teams meeting. No app to add, nothing for IT to approve: share a window, the team joins with a code from their phones, and ten questions later there's a winner on the board.

How to run it in Teams

  1. 1Open remotequiz.co/host in Edge or Chrome, pick Quick (3 questions) or Standard (10), and a room with a join code and QR appears immediately.
  2. 2In your Teams meeting, choose Share, then Window, and pick the Remote Quiz window.
  3. 3Players open remotequiz.co/join on their phone or in a second browser tab, enter the code and a name.
  4. 4Start the game. Questions run for 20 seconds each and the scoreboard updates after every reveal.

Why it suits Teams

  • No admin approval. It's a website, not a Teams app, so it works on locked-down corporate tenants.
  • Works on any device in the meeting. Desktop, web, or the Teams mobile app: players only need a browser.
  • Quick enough for a stand-up. Quick is three questions in a few minutes, Standard is ten in about ten, and the host can play along.
  • Real scoring. 100 points per right answer, up to 100 more for speed, no arguments.

Three ways teams use it

  • The Friday all-hands closer. Ten questions before everyone signs off.
  • New starter welcome. An icebreaker in the first team meeting so names and faces stick.
  • Sprint retro reward. A quick game after the retrospective as a change of pace.

Microsoft Teams quiz FAQ

Can I add it as a tab in Teams?

Not yet. Share the host window during the meeting instead. It takes one click.

Do players need a Microsoft account?

No accounts on either side. A code and a browser is all anyone needs.

How many people can play?

Up to 24 per room. Big departments can run several rooms at once.

Does it work on the Teams free plan?

Yes. It runs in the browser, so it needs nothing from Teams beyond the call itself.
